The Nantucket, 1837
The Nantucket was a 350-ton whaler built at the Brant Point shipyard and launched from Nantucket, Massachusetts in 1837. It was the only whaling ship displaying a whale as its signal flag from the area. The ship often sailed the Pacific coast of South America. In 1851, the Nantucket rescued the crew of the Ann Alexander in the South Pacific after she was rammed and sunk by a sperm whale
